Common Mistakes Wives Make During Orange County, California Divorces – Part 1

by Dinnebier & Demmerle on March 10, 2014

The California divorce process can be intimidating and confusing to both men and women. Divorcing women, in particular, face several peculiar challenges. In a recent series of posts, we explored the unique challenges men face during divorce. In today’s post and in several to follow, we’ll turn the tables and talk about (and address) women’s divorce-related problems.

The first (and most obvious) issue has to do with fertility. Biology is unfair on a fundamental level. Men can reproduce, theoretically, as long as they live, while woman have to confront the reality of the so-called “biological clock.” After a certain age, women may find it impossible to bare children. This fact alone creates great stress for women who want families. For instance, if your marriage ends before you have children, you might feel pressure to re-partner quickly to have children. Alternatively, if you have children but you want more, you face similar pressures.

Fortunately, due to modern technologies, women now have many more choices than they did, say, three decades ago. But the biological clock problem remains unique and uniquely consuming challenge for many divorced women. The first step is this: understand your case and develop an effective strategy to advocate for yourself and your assets (and your kids, if you have any).
